Blossom Living - joy. creativity. gratitude.
Hi! Thanks for stopping by Inside Thread Studio! I love to write, think, teach, and practice all the ways you can live simply, sustainably, and happy moment to moment. I believe in interconnection- everything we do is threaded into something else. In these next two posts, I will share with you my thoughts on blossom living. These are my own practices and methods on living with joy, creativity, gratitude, intention, & simplicity.
Enjoy!
Observing nature, I found we all are like a blossom of some sort. Blooming is all around us. From the green weeds that spring up through the hard asphalt and concrete to the flowers, trees and algae growing in the ponds and oceans. Each of us can bloom joy, creativity, & gratitude.
To Find Joy : Joy is found within. Even on my gloomiest days, I can find a feeling of joy just by observing and understand that life is blooming and it is connected and I'm a part of that connection.
If you're not to convinced of the interconnection that everything shares then take this journal activity I created to direct attention to the observance of interconnection.
Observance of interconnection
This activity takes 5 minutes
Go to your backyard, a park, or heck even the tree filled parking space outside of work!
For 3 minutes take out your journal/ notepad and pen and sit quietly observing the life around you. Ask yourself only this...
"How am I connected to what I see?"
For the next 2 minutes write everything that emerges from your internal self.
To Find Creativity : Creativity may seem elusive to some, but we all contain a vast amount of creativity inside ourselves. Creativity can be ideas or artistic work. No matter what our skills, we all have the ability to create something. We use our thoughts and mix them with the inner joy inside creating ideas, and works of art that are pure treasures. We may find creativity in how we cook, design, dress ourselves, inspire others, or simple through words or doodling!
Draw the breath
I admit, I use this activity when I teach my kids yoga classes, but I think it's a great way to explore creativity!
This activity takes 5 minutes.
It aims on bring forth our inner creativity side through art but you can even try this activity through words!
Get a sheet of paper and either some different color pens/crayons/markers
Take a quiet moment to feel the breath moving in the body. Observe it. Is it ridged? Shallow? Bumpy? Smooth? Expansive?
Now take the colors {you can switch colors at anytime} and simple draw what the breath feels like to you. What do you see? Depending on the state of the breath you can tell what kind of mood you are in! Harsh lines and deep colors or smooth flowing lines and calming colors? Go and find out!
Take a snapshot of your breathing art and send it to me! I'll post it up for others to see exactly what it's like! Send to yogatoes10@gmail.com subject : breathing art
To Find Gratitude :
Gratitude is a trait which will carry you far. Sincerity, honesty, and gratitude these three are likened to the main facets of a beautiful gem. They shine to others and help us bloom into our true nature of compassion and wisdom. Finding gratitude means you need to be of sincere observance of what is being provide around you.
Gratitude can be found in even the most mundane places, for instance, a street cleaner or the countless individuals that built our roads...individuals whom you will never meet. Send them gratitude in the form of a simple thought next time you drive down the road or pass by someone who has done something that may not be completely directed to you but to the whole. In this sense, gratitude can be given to others hundreds of times a day!
Gratitude Thought Wave
Each time you encounter a service or see an material item in which you have no relationship with the person or individuals who produced it, give a thought of gratitude for their work and what it has provide for you. Imagine this thought like a wave from your heart to theirs...regardless if its just their job or what they require to do. The point is to create a mindset of good intentions....
I believe when we think and practice these ideas of joy, creativity, and gratitude we move into a place of realization and discovery. We begin to understand the connections between all things. Our thoughts, speech, and physical actions are completely woven into the whole of all experiences. So why not make them wonderful!
peace & love
